This is not a perfect solution and I do not think it is so easy but here we go.
We have a country that has been literally destroyed from the ground up.
We have a country racked with unemployment, especially in construction. With the slowdown of the housing industry, there is a lot of man and woman power out of work, much equipment not in use.
Many wonderful people are reaching out with their hard-earned dollars, so let us put it to work.
Haiti needs to be rebuilt, but not as before. The building standards have to be followed to at least the level of the international building code, so as to try to prevent the widespread disaster they are experiencing right now.
They have the need, we have the people, why not? But a warning, the same geniuses at work after Katrina, in charge of cleanup and construction, can not be involved.
But the people of Haiti need to be put to work to help rebuild their country. They can't be shut out. National pride needs to be included in the effort.
How can we do it? Let me know.

Agree, standards are key...but also, looking at the overpopulation of the capitol, how can they get control of their problems (not enough food, water, safe places to live) if they don't stop having more children than the parents, and the country can support?
One news story stated half the population was under 18 years old.
Well, if Cow were running this, she'd start teaching these young people skills in building the new buildings at the same time birth control was somehow encouraged, they've done it in China, surely it's not impossible.
Katrina many problems were the scam artists taking people's money, the insurance companies weasling out of paying, and endless government delays.
Answers: a WPA kind of program run by their government, where all work is done under supervision, workers are paid from aid funds (instead of millions of illegals coming in doing it as in Katrina) and proper supervision and code enforcement is maintained.
Cow is dreaming, she knows. And feels pretty much the world is going to hell--Americans are taxed and fee'd to death while the rich and the govt and wall street and insurance companies make billions.

Yes, the Chinese did work to slow down the population. And having a boy was preferable to having a girl. A recent article I read stated there are at least a million or more men then women now, a major imbalance for the population.
If enough people think they can make money in Haiti, oh my, think what could happen. It would turn into an island paradise. Everyone that can must work. I work with several Haitians, hard working people, who always send money back to help others. It can be done.
