Male Hormones

It happens to men too. No, it is not the long list of changes that women go through, the suffering to the body and mind that takes it toll.

Instead it is of the stealth variety that plagues men. The biggest culprit is the gradual loss of testosterone. It is a big factor in the gradual decline of ones health. Such problems as fatigue, depression, sexual problems are associated with the problem.

Men are loathe to discuss such things amongst their peers. It is one of those things that men do, to suffer in silence, that is the way we are.

Imagine the light inside a car left on and unnoticed. Left on on long enough, the slow drain gradually make the battery unable to turn over.  The problem is magnified over the years when the pounds start to add up, life styles become more sedentary, bad eating habits, lack of exercise and so.

Nope, we don't go through the night sweats and stuff, the hormonal imbalances and stuff. We don't want to go through it either. We can't begin to understand what is happening to you.

But we sufferer in our own way. Quietly. And it's no fun either,

The problem lies in that society has not allowed men to speak up - and men have been conditioned to keep things close to their chest (unlike women who verbalise it it all). And the pressure to be "manly" and to "perform" is taking away the rights of men to be normal human beings.

I think things are slowly changing. At least, I hope so. I hope young men these days can feel they are able to talk about problems and that women are more understanding about those problems.

Good for you for sharing with us. We encourage our son to speak openly about issues or feelings he's having - good or bad. Being honest and open helps everyone.

I have suffered many physical injuries over the years and kept on going. Those are easy to deal with, but the hidden ones, ah there is the rub.

I did want to say that tiredness is a problem that is bothering me at the moment, something that I will look into soon.
The other points I have brought up have not yet affected me as of yet! Thankfully! haha

The primary male hormone, testosterone is mainly produced by the testes. Testosterone levels peak levels during adolescence and the early twenties. After the age 30, a man’s testosterone levels drop by about 1% each year. Although subtle at first, the symptoms of decreased testosterone become increasingly evident by the time a man reaches his mid forties.
