Sunrise Sunset

Sunrise Sunset

repost to follow up with my last post pictures!
the sun slowly rising
creeping upward
ever so slowly
light streaking across
the sky
mingled in with
scattered clouds
bits of pink and orange
playing hide and seek
nature starting its
stretch
morning yawn
still a chill
in the air
muffled sounds
of the waves
rolling to the shores
soft cries of the birds
as they search
for their daily food
circling overhead
the sight of a fish
breaking the water
the quiet movement
of people slowly
making way to join others
in a singular way
along the sands
looking forward
to a new day
looking for change
or continuation
of what has been
bestowed upon them
for some
the search goes on

the sun heavy with
a full day behind it
slowly gathering
downward heading
reaching for the horizon
the expectations
of the day
maybe fullfilled
the darkness creeping
from behind
pushing at the colors
of the soon
night time sky
a quiet time begins
birds flutter about
searching for the nest
energy of the day
all but expelled
fish drift off to sleep
to the depths
they call home
some do gather
chairs for sand
drink in hand
slowly settle in
to watch nature's show
a stillness returns
words not uttered
lost in thought
light turns to dark
the cycle to return
the day wish to continue
or the hope for
a new begining

what is your wish

Last Night's Sunset

I walked out the front door
looked up at the sky
and saw a sunset like no other
amazingly, no one was around
no one at home
neighbors not at home
no one walking by
no one to share with
my camera phone does not do it justice
better then nothing I guess

I thought later about
how many sunsets
and sunrises I have missed
never to be seen again
why living near the ocean
feels very right some day

You never know when you open a door

I was out yesterday with another trainer prospecting for business. (I have been going out with different agents getting a sense of style and the steps taken to get business.)
We have our names of businesses and contact names, it is an easier way of doing business, but I digress.

We opened a door and walked in, met the gentleman, Pete, agreed that he would not be a good fit at this time, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw a drum set under a tarp.

We continued talking and found out he did the sound production and editing for many musical groups, cities, county productions and so on. He decided to give us a tour of the place. Grabbing his keys he proceeded to open a door and we stepped in and I felt like we had fallen down the rabbit hole.

It was a full production room complete with a massive control board and racks of equipment that he used. He mentioned many groups were going back to analog because it was a warmer sound and there was a reel to reel tape machine that he uses. But wait...

On the wall were some Pink Floyd albums and I commented how much I loved them and that VH1 had recently done a special on Pink Floyd and showed the process of making Dark Side of the Moon.

Goldman, Seth (Stage Technician)
September 1970 — December 1972
November 1974 — October 1994

Goldman, Seth (Monitor Engineer)

Two platinum albums hung upon the wall with his name and Pink Floyd. Unfortunately Seth wasn't there, he worked part time, now in his mid sixties.

I really, really wanted to touch them, hold them, squeeze them. But I didn't.

He then showed us the stage area they were building and gave us a very nice tour of the whole place.
As we were about to leave I asked if he could show us the drum set and he did.

The drums were there along with the seat. The cymbals were not attached, which was probably a good thing because I might have embarrassed myself by asking to let me play them, being I haven't played in years it might not have been pretty.

It turns out he has been playing drums for over 30 years and his group is a warm up act for many of the main acts at concerts in the area.  I think he said it was called the Fleetwoods.

Finally we had to leave. I don't think my feet had touched the ground the whole time there.

just a door with a bay number on it, an unknown story waiting to be told. I have the gentleman's card and his website and I will post it at a later time. I also asked him about an idea I had, seem the right time and place. I will talk about that later.

So, how was your day?
lol

a happy cup of coffee this morning

No, I am not crying, must be the onions!

I am an old softy I guess. I love going to YouTube and picking stuff to watch on Britain Got Talent and the X Factor. And don't forget other talent shows around the world. I try to watch them all.

many of them surprise the judges because they don't look the part...until they start to sing or play or whatever.

And they blow your mind. And I love it. And yes, I get teary eyed while watching.

because they are living the dream and have a chance at greatness.

 a great story.

here is a great  example

Word Verification is keeping me away

It has becoming tiring trying to figure out the letters and sometimes the numbers so I can comment or stop by and say hi. Maybe it is me, maybe the eyes are to old, maybe my patience has worn thin, maybe I am too tired. For whatever the reason I quit.

There are a number of blogs on my reading list that have gone that route instead of owner approval and I am sure they have their reasons. Many times I try again and again and again. Nothing.

Thinking about it, because I love you guys, I will try once, only once when I stop by.

I may be missed. If I am, now you know why.

File this under teaching very old dogs new tricks

You may have noticed or not that their had been a time gap on any postings on my new blog R. Jacob Post Musical Experience because I couldn't, something had happened.

I had always found the video I wanted, clicked on the share button, clicked on imbed button, copy and paste, preview and or play and then publish and on to the next one.

This week, nothing. Very perplexing. Only the code would post no matter how many times I tried. And with work in play ( yes work! ) I didn't have time to explore why.

Today I was playing around and guessed that with the blogger change on posting, maybe it was the reason. I found the insert video button on the top and ta da ( I love ta da ) it worked and I am back in business.

There are still a few steps involved but I am happy to see music happening again.

You may have noticed my Sunday Music list is gone. I have absorbed most of them today into R. Jacob Post Musical Experience. I hope you enjoy it over there.

File this under teaching very old dogs new tricks. I liked this sentence so much I used it for the title!

Sometimes timing is everything

I had a quick meeting with my district manager yesterday morning. I did get dressed nicely but passed on the shirt and tie as I was not going into the field and wore a nice golf shirt instead. Blue, to go with my eyes! ha ha

But here is the timing thing. It was the shoes. My comfortable black slip ons that I had forever. As I got out of my truck I realized my right shoe had mostly separated, the sole from the shoe! As I walked it was flopping around like some type of clown shoe. When I met the boss, I quickly pointed it out and hid my embarrassment.

Here is the good thing. I was done for the day after the meeting and was able to later buy a nice very expensive pair of shoes on sale at Nordstrom's pair of shoes and take care of a few other things later on that say avoiding missing a day in the field.

My day was not ruined and for that I am happy.

Cursive writing is like Latin, Dead

I was out and about yesterday getting my phone looked at ( new replacement on the way ) and was talking about minutes used and texting and talking. My kids text more the they talk, way more. He laughed and said now a days people talk with their thumbs.

He has a younger brother living in northern Florida whose school had stopped teach cursive. I was only mildly surprised. Why? Hasn't printing and spellcheck thank god for it or people would think that I am illiterate  taken over everything?

Isn't true the only time you use cursive is when you have to sign something? Isn't it also true that most of the time you can't read it anyway?

So maybe it is a good thing after all.

I will miss the flourishes of beautiful handwriting.

A lost art, much like calligraphy.

The Start Of A New-Final Career

Ta Da
Yes, today is my first day of orientation, second day tomorrow, and then into the field, bothering selling business to business, showing off all my insurance wares.

I have found out that I am not ready to settle down and retire, very boring. One needs deadlines, things to do, structure and such. I need to interact with people and be helpful. It has become part of my nature, my DNA.

I am somewhat anxious of course to live up to the promise I showed during the interview. Mondays are the one day of the week where everyone in the district meets to go over what they did last week, I think. All new to me, so we will see.

I believe there are 15 agents in the district besides myself. I will be the new kid in class and I am sure to be sized up and scrutinized and wondered about and questioned, politely of course.

I will also have to gradually build up a work wardrobe. I don't have a suit or sport coat in the closet. I know that seems strange but when you work in a warehouse environment as I have for the last 20 plus years you find less and less reasons to wear a coat and tie. And as one's social life winds down the need disappears to dress up.
I have had a very casual wardrobe for years. Wearing a shirt and tie everyday will take some time getting used to.

I had to open a new checking account during the week. I will be responsible for my own taxes and FICA payments. The new account has three sections to it so I can split up what I need to stay organized. To all you accountants and bookkeepers out there, I salute you. After all these years of having it done by corporate, it will be out of my mind with paperwork interesting.

Of course I am up early. Oh it would gave been nice to sleep in late. but I am almost always up at five or sooner, no matter when I go to bed.

Soon it will be time to go off on my new adventure. I appreciate the support I have been given and I will try not to disappoint! I will of course give updates at least in the beginning as I get my sea legs.

By the way, I talked to my class instructor, doing a followup. He said I did well scoring as high as I did the second time I took the test. Most barely pass it!

The end of Sunday Music

I had decided to experiment with my love of music and music videos to post music only on Sundays.

Soon I could see that it would take over a whole side of my blog as I tracked my selections.

So I have decided to stop it. But never fear "music lovers".

For I have created...Ta Da! the  R. Jacob Post Musical Experience

Most of the time when one writes, it is rare to post more than one thing at a time as it will get lost in the shuffle. It is not a problem with my new blog as I am going for the jukebox affect.
This gives me an outlet for my music I have found or sometimes rediscovered.

Stop on by and give it a listen. You will see many whole album selections and one hit wonders and stuff that just grabs me. Right now the emphasis is on the 60's but that can change in a heart beat.

That is all for now

I played golf today without drinking beer, never ever again

Our usual foursome was not available today so I made it a twosome with a guy I used to work with. We ended up pairing up with another two guys to speed up play.

The guy I was with is pretty good, but me, well let's say I get my moneys worth and the high score proves it. But we usually drink beer as we play. A beer is usually nearby at all times. Contrary to popular belief, it helps.

You get relaxed and loosened up and and as long as it is not overdone it doesn't hurt the game. And the jokes about playing a ladies game go on all day.

But not today. To be polite I didn't have any. And I think it hurt me. I came home just as tired, just as sore as any other time out. But I didn't have as much fun.

But wait...Nature Alert!!!

Teeing off on the back nine, surrounded by bushes and tall grass with water near by, we heard the grunts of an alligator! And saw some bushes moving, and saw an iguana! Oh and a family of raccoons, twice!
They are sneaky and if you have open food on your golf cart they will run up and steal it!

In Florida, one always assumes if there is water there is an alligator. It's a rule.

So to sum it all up
rule 1
play more golf

rule 2
drink beer

and I will drink a beer to that right now

Raiders Football-Old School

Maybe I like old school football because, well, I am old school. Attitudes were different, style was different. Money didn't mean as much back then. Winning meant more. Losing hurt more.
Warrior mentality. Loved it then, love it now. Yea, I know more now about injuries now. The punishment was sometimes brutal. But the message was there. We will destroy you.

The Raiders were cool. The players with attitude that other teams didn't want, the Raiders welcomed with open arms. And we loved it!

Call me insane but it is time to start another blog!

Okay, I am insane. But...

I have this one which is of a general nature, I have one for my poetry and my drawing.
What is next?

My love of music and music videos. it has been calling out to me as of late. I have dabbled in it with my Sunday music selections and I guess it is time to take it to the next step. It will be for my own personal enjoyment but I do hope some will stop by to say hi.

I do have a lot of musical memories to draw upon. Many, many years of musical adventures. Because of the internet and You Tube, I keep finding more that I appreciate everyday. I may or may not post music on both blogs. I will have to see. But it will be fun....for me anyway!

The songs that I have posted of late, I have tried to find a song from an artist that doesn't get the same attention as some other songs that they might be known for.

You might be surprised at some of the choices.

Some songs quicken the pulse, stir emotions, bring back memories of happiness and/or sadness. Some will be of singers or groups that I have never heard of before. New to me anyway!

So grab a favorite beverage from the kitchen and head out to the patio where the music promises to be loud, the food good and plentiful, the lighting just right to make me look good and the conversation engaging.

Even if it is just me talking to myself! lol

My Back Against The Wall

When I posted about not passing the insurance test the first time, no one knew how bad I really felt.

Before I retook it, I went through every line of every chapter, made my own flash cards of definitions, every day was 8 to ten hours of writing and reading trying to make the information stick. Days blurred in my mind, one day after another. The day of the test, I packed up my notes and cards and drove to the test site, arrived early and read aloud definitions while I sat in the truck. It was time.

I sat down at the computer and dove in. At first it seemed easy and then doubt showed up in my mind. Did I know it? When I was done, I turned in my test stuff and they printed my score. They give it to you upside down. I thanked them and left.  I didn't look at it in the hallway. I didn't look at it on the long walk back to my truck. All I could think was "what if I didn't pass. what if all the effort wasn't enough, what would I do?"
I slowly turned it over and it said PASS!

A sense of relief washed over me. A major hurdle. The first time I scored 104 out of 150 for a 69.3% and a failure. This time I scored 121 out of 150 for a 80.7%. A nice jump for me.
Funny thing though, the first time I had hoped for a 70. This time I had hoped for an 80! and it worked.

and now...
Basically I had burned all my bridges in an attempt to remake myself one more time. I had walked away from a bad, crumbling situation on my last job, both mentally worn out and physically breaking down.

I could no longer tell if I couldn't do the job anymore or the bar was being raised so high that it was impossible to succeed. I decided to leave on my own terms. Jump ship and I knew that would not be welcomed on the home front. A man, of course, is defined by a paycheck. Things went as expected.

I cast about in many directions in my job search. Different areas and the more "I have done this before over the years" thought process and surprisingly, nobody wanted me. Like many things in life, you don't have the experience or unsaid " you are going to want too much money or man, you look old".

Many jobs offered included long hours, low pay, and much travel. And many had you working 6 days.

The job I did go with was not my first choice at first. When I first went to the group interview, It all seemed too familiar to me. See, I had done something like this in the early 80's and had failed miserably.
I was sure it was to be more of the same. During the presentation I could feel the energy draining out of me.
When it was done, they had you write on the top of the application second interview, follow up or no thank you. With some hesitation I put down follow up.  And got a call a week or so later.

After some playing some phone tag, I went in. By then I had made up my mind that this was the job for me. For one, the hours were to my liking, 9-5 5 days a week, weekends off. I would be my own boss more or less setting my own hours.I had found a different way to approach the sales portion and I am betting that it will pay off.

But the catch is setting my own pay too. It is a straight commission  job.

Okay, all together..shudder..   Commission!

What about security? No job is secure, trust me.

Think about it, ever work real hard at a job and make as much or less as the guy/girl next to you? Straight commission pays you what you are worth.

Yes, there are ups and downs in sales but mostly it evens out over time. I hope I still have it.

I figure it will take a week or two to get things rolling and then we will see.

A line from The Hunt for Red October

Captain Ramius: When he reached the New World, Cortez burned his ships. As a result his men were well motivated.

I am well motivated. We will see how good I am.
This could be my last hurrah. I will be 60 this year. This is a job I could do for the next ten years.
I will find out when my orientation is, ground rules and such. You sign a contract. I will be an independent agent, my own taxes and such. A new adventure indeed.

and now it is coffee time

"10 Signs That You May Be Fully Awake"

Borrowed from Running Cause I can't Fly

"10 Signs That You May Be Fully Awake"
by ActivistPost

"Isn’t it obvious that there is a significant global awakening happening? It can no longer be argued that a great many people are finally becoming aware of what has been hidden from them for so long. Of course this awakening is not an overnight process. It takes time to peel away the many layers of lies to get to the core of the ultimate truths. It would be beyond pretentious for us to claim to know all of the secrets of the universe. We don’t. Everyday we are humbled by what we don’t yet know. However, it is becoming clearer by the day what isn’t true. And by that measure alone, it is possible to determine if you’re one of the people beginning to wake up. Here are ten signs you may be fully awake:

1. You know there’s no meaningful difference between major political parties (Democrats and Republicans): It’s so easy to get caught up the left-right debate and believe there’s a difference between the two major political parties. However, debate is one thing, while actions are another. By their deeds you shall know them, and it is indisputable that there is no significant difference between political parties when it comes to action on the most important issues. Even hardened ideologues like John Cusack are beginning to wake up.

2. You understand that the Federal Reserve, or international central banking more broadly, is the engine of our economic problems: Debt slavery is the totalitarian force that threatens all of humanity, not some temporary political puppet or some greedy Wall Street trader. When a small group of people have the ability to create wealth out of nothing and charge interest on it, they have the ability to enslave the planet to their ownership despite what type of government a country claims to have.

3. You know that preemptive war is never necessary:  When we realize that self-defense is the only acceptable form of violence, then we become awakened human beings. To suggest war because someone is different from you, or they may pose a threat in the future is simply ludicrous. And when did the idea of bombing civilians become humanitarian? No one wants war except for the immoral creeps that benefit from it.

4. You know that you’re being systematically poisoned, how, by whom, and why: Admittedly, there’s a lot to learn in terms of how we are secretly being poisoned. But the fact remains that we are being systematically poisoned, and it is likely for the deliberate purpose of dumbing us down and, ultimately, culling the population. Who could believe anyone is so evil to do that to innocent people, you may ask. Well, once you begin to seek the answer to that question, you’re one step closer to enlightenment.

5. You understand that government can never legislate morality, nor should they: When you realize the role of government is only to protect your liberty and work for the well being of the citizens, you’re awakened. There should be one simple law regulating morality: Do no harm. Thus, it’s impossible for the government to enforce morality with guns, cages, and taxes because those clearly cause severe harm to your liberty and our well-being.

6. You know that the mainstream media is wholly owned and manipulated by the ruling elite: A dwindling number of people still actually believe what they hear coming from the establishment media as if it’s gospel, even when they already accept that they are bought and paid for by the elite controllers. Yet, recognizing that they are nothing more than a propaganda machine and a form of mind control are the first steps in being able to critically think beyond the scientific messaging they broadcast.

7. You know that your neighbors are not your enemy even if you have fierce ideological disagreements: This is perhaps the most difficult thing to overcome in the awakening process. But it’s vital to understand that your neighbors have been indoctrinated and hypnotized like the rest of the us, until someone helps shine a light on inconsistencies in our thoughts and beliefs. Most of their ideas are not their own. They are suffering just like the rest of us. It’s okay to condemn their actions if they’re harmful, but those who are awake will not give up on spreading information that can enlighten those who might still be in the dark. None of us were born “awake” and all of us can learn even more.

8. You know that the endgame is one-world control of planet Earth: Once you understand that the endgame for the ruling elite is to have complete control of all vital facets of society through a global government, one-world currency, international armed forces, and so on, it is simple to see through the lies and propaganda surrounding even the most confusing world events. You will never go back to sleep when you fully accept this reality.

9. You recognize that there are esoteric powers manipulating our physical world: Whether you’re a religious or spiritual person, scientific or just plain curious, there are many theories about an invisible force at play in all of this. Obviously it’s impossible to prove exactly what it is. You may not want to believe it, but the ruling elite takes their occult rituals deadly serious. And they likely know something we don’t. Just by keeping an open mind about this possibility, you’ll forever keep an open mind about the things we can actually see, hear, taste and touch. Current science has shown that we can only “see” what the visible light spectrum reveals, which amounts to the tiniest fraction of all that can theoretically be seen within the full spectrum of energy. Part of any awakening is realizing that there is much more that is possible than impossible.

10. The power to change the world rests with you and you alone: For too long people have believed themselves to be weak, or relied on others to change the world for them. You’ll know that you’re fully awake when you realize that you have infinite power to change the world by simply living the change you want to see. First, you have to identify the principles that you believe in and then go out and live by them. If just a small minority took steps to do this, it would shake the establishment to its core."
"What kind of world do you want to live in?"

Man vs Woman

email of the week

VSA store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store
ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1
 - These men Have Jobs

She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2
 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.

'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'

So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3
 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.

'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4
 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.

'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5
 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the
sixth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 6
 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

PLEASE NOTE:

To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.

The
first floor has wives that love sex.

The
second floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer

The
third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.
a round of applause
and maybe a beer
thank you
